Here are 3 wedding invitation hints every couple should follow to make sure they send the perfect invitations:

1. Verify Your Wedding Date: Before you purchase your invitations or print them out, make sure you have your wedding site and date confirmed, to avoid changing all of the invitations.

2. RSVP: Make sure your guests may contact you by phone, email, or post. Knowing your guests amounts can help you plan your wedding clearly.

3. Print Thank You Cards: Not only sending thank you cards for your guests for attending is a sweet gesture, but purchasing them with your wedding invitations will save you time and money.

After having a few months working on your own stationery, you likely feel like you know everything there is to know about these paper goods. However, before you head to the post office to ship out your invitations, there are a few significant thing you want to take into account that may have not crossed your mind. Thus, without further ado, here are five steps to take to make the most of your mailing.

1. Tissue paper inserts aren’t just for good looks.

While putting tissue paper between the layers of the stationery package may increase your prices, in addition, it can help stop the ink from smudging. If you chose to use a darker colored ink onto your invitations or you went with thermography, your cards may rub together as they make their way via the mail. If it is not too late, add a little tissue paper to ensure your pretty paper arrives in pristine form.

2. Square invitations need more postage.

Due to the strange shape, square envelopes need more postage to mail. Even though this isn’t a huge monetary gap (roughly 20 cents per cent, depending on the dimensions) you can easily cut a few extra dollars by deciding on a normal ol’ rectangular envelope. If you’re looking for other ways to save your invitations, then elect for an RSVP postcard rather than a traditional mail-in response card, even since the price of a postcard stamp is less than a normal stamp.

3. Never lick on the adhesive to close your envelopes.

To prevent having one of your precious invites open en route, reinforce the closure method on your envelopes by using glue or any other super strong adhesive. Licking is not only hard in your own mouth (the taste! Paper cuts!) , it also doesn’t guarantee the package will arrive in 1 piece. For a fairly touch, include a sticker or piece of washi tape, however, do not rely on these things as the main closure approach. They could fall off or grab on other items during delivery.

4. Always take your cards inside the post office.

For additional reassurance (and to avoid risking your invitations having to combat the components), never drop them off at a street-side mailbox. Should you hand them to someone at the post office right, they are not as likely to get damaged in transit, and you can ensure you’ve done everything properly, from the stamp to the writing of the speeches. This is an especially important step if you’re using vintage stamps — they could be tricky!

5. Ask the post office to hand cancel your stamps.

Instead of allowing the post office conduct the invitations through a machine-operated sorting system (which marks the envelope with thick lines in the top right corner and may damage the envelope in the procedure) ,ask them to “hand cancel” your invitations. It follows they will use a unique ink stamp to indicate your invitation, and they’ll type it by hand, reducing the danger of this damage. While some post offices refuse to do this, most are flexible should you pop in during a slow moment.
