Here are just 3 wedding invitation hints every couple should follow to make sure they deliver the perfect invitations:

1. Verify Your Wedding Date: Before you purchase your invitations or print them out, ensure you have your wedding site and date confirmed, to avoid changing all of the invitations.

2. RSVP: Make sure your guests may contact you by phone, email, or post. Knowing your guests numbers will allow you to plan your wedding clearly.

3. Print Thank You Cards: Not sending thank you cards to your guests for attending is a sweet gesture, but ordering them along with your wedding invitations can help save you money and time.

After spending a few months working on your stationery, you likely feel like you know everything there is to know about those paper products. However, before you head to the post office to send your invitations out, there are a few significant thing that you want to take into account that may have never crossed your mind. So, without further ado, here are five steps to take to make the most of your mailing.

1. Tissue paper inserts aren’t only for good looks.

Whilst putting tissue paper between the layers of the stationery package may boost your costs, it also helps stop the ink from smudging. If you opted to use a darker colored ink on your invitations or you went with thermography, your cards could rub together because they make their way through the mail. When it is not too late, then add a bit of tissue paper to make sure your pretty paper arrives in pristine shape.

2. Square invitations require more postage.

As a result of abnormal shape, square envelopes require more postage to mail. While this isn’t a massive monetary difference (about 20 cents per card, depending on the dimensions) you can certainly cut a couple of additional bucks by deciding on a regular ol’ rectangular envelope. If you’re looking for other ways to save your invitations, then opt for an RSVP postcard as opposed to a traditional mail-in response card, even since the price of a postcard is under a standard postage.

3. Never lick the adhesive to shut your envelopes.

To avoid having one of your prized invitations open en route, reinforce the closure method on your envelopes using adhesive or some other super strong adhesive. Licking is not just hard on your mouth (the flavor! Paper cuts!) , it also doesn’t guarantee that the package will arrive in one piece. To get a fairly touch, add a sticker or part of washi tape, but don’t rely on those things as the most important closure approach. They can fall off or catch on other things during delivery.

4. Always take your cards within the post office.

For extra peace of mind (and to avoid risking your invitations needing to combat the elements), never drop them off in a street-side mailbox. If you flip them to a person in the post office right, they are not as likely to get damaged in transit, and you’ll be able to make certain you’ve done everything properly, from the stamp into the composing of the speeches. This is a particularly important step if you’re using vintage stamps — they could be tricky!

5. Ask the post office to hand cancel your own stamps.

Rather than letting the post office run the invites through a machine-operated sorting system (which marks the envelope with thick lines in the top right corner and may damage the envelope at the procedure) ,ask them to “hand cancel” your invitations. This means that they will use a unique ink stamp to indicate your invitation, and they’ll type it by hand, lowering the risk of this damage. While some post offices refuse to do this, most are elastic if you pop during a slow moment.
