Listed below are just 3 wedding invitation hints every couple should follow to be sure they deliver the perfect invitations:

1. Verify Your Wedding Day: Before you order your invitations or print them out, ensure you have your wedding site and date confirmed, to avoid shifting all of the invitations.

2. RSVP: Ensure that your guests can contact you by phone, email, or post. Knowing your guests amounts will allow you to plan your wedding clearly.

3. Print Thank You Cards: Not only sending thank you cards for your guests for attending is a sweet gesture, but purchasing them along with your wedding invitations can help save you time and money.

After having a few months working on your own stationery, you probably feel as if you know what there is to learn about those paper products. But before you head to the post office to send out your invitations, there are a few significant thing that you need to consider that may have never crossed your mind. Thus, without further ado, here are five steps to take to make the most of your mailing.

1. Tissue paper inserts are not only for good looks.

While placing tissue paper between the layers of your stationery suite can increase your prices, it also can help prevent the ink from smudging. If you chose to use a darker colored ink on your invitations or you went with thermography, your cards may rub together as they make their way through the email. When it is not too late, add a bit of tissue paper to make sure your pretty paper arrives in pristine shape.

2. Square invitations require more postage.

As a result of strange form, square envelopes need more postage to mail. While this isn’t a massive monetary difference (roughly 20 cents per card, depending on the size) you can easily cut a couple of extra bucks by deciding on a regular ol’ rectangular envelope. If you’re trying to find other ways to save your invitations, then opt for an RSVP postcard rather than a conventional mail-in response card, even since the cost of a postcard is under a standard postage.

3. Never lick the glue to close your envelopes.

To avoid having one of your precious invites open en route, reinforce the closure method on your envelopes using adhesive or some other super strong adhesive. Licking isn’t just hard on your own mouth (the flavor! Paper cuts!) , it also does not guarantee the package will arrive in 1 piece. For a pretty touch, add a sticker or part of washi tape, however, don’t rely on these things as the most important closure approach. They can fall off or grab on other things during delivery.

4. Always take your cards inside the post office.

For extra reassurance (and to avoid risking your invitations having to battle the elements), never drop them off at a street-side mailbox. If you flip them to someone at the post office directly, they are not as likely to get damaged in transit, and you’ll be able to make certain you’ve done everything properly, from the postage into the composing of the addresses. This is a particularly important step if you’re using vintage stamps — they can be tricky!

5. Ask the post office to hand cancel your own stamps.

Instead of letting the post office conduct the invitations through a machine-operated sorting system (which marks the envelope with thick lines at the top right corner and may damage the envelope in the process) ,ask them to “hand cancel” your invitations. It follows that they’ll use a unique ink stamp to indicate your invitation, and they’ll type it by hand, reducing the risk of this harm. While some post offices refuse to do this, most are flexible if you pop in during a slow moment.
