Here are just 3 wedding invitation tips every couple should follow to be sure they deliver the perfect invitations:

1. Verify Your Wedding Day: Before you purchase your invitations or print them out, ensure you have your wedding venue and date confirmed, to avoid shifting all of the invitations.

2. RSVP: Make sure that your guests may contact you by phone, email, or post. Knowing your guests amounts will allow you to organize your wedding clearly.

3. Print Thank You Cards: Not only sending thank you cards for your guests for attending is a sweet gesture, but purchasing them with your wedding invitations will help save you money and time.

After having a couple of months working on your stationery, you probably feel as if you know what there is to know about those paper goods. But before you go to the post office to send your invitations out, there are a few major thing you need to take into account that may have never crossed your mind. So, without further ado, here are five steps to take to make the most of your mailing.

1. Tissue paper inserts aren’t just for great looks.

While placing tissue paper between the layers of your stationery package may boost your costs, in addition, it helps prevent the ink from smudging. If you chose to use a darker colored ink on your own invitations or you went with thermography, your cards could rub together because they make their way via the mail. If it’s not too late, then add a little tissue paper to ensure your pretty paper arrives in pristine shape.

2. Square invitations need more postage.

As a result of abnormal shape, square envelopes need more postage to mail. While this isn’t a huge monetary gap (roughly 20 cents per card, depending on the size) you can certainly cut a couple of additional dollars by deciding on a regular ol’ rectangular envelope. If you’re trying to find other ways to save on your invitations, then elect for an RSVP postcard rather than a traditional mail-in response card, even since the price of a postcard is under a normal stamp.

3. Never lick on the adhesive to close your envelopes.

To prevent having one of your precious invites open en route, fortify the final method on your envelopes using glue or some other super strong adhesive. Licking is not only hard in your mouth (the taste! Paper cuts!) , it also does not guarantee the package will arrive in one piece. To get a fairly touch, include a sticker or piece of washi tape, but don’t rely on these things as the main closure method. They could fall off or catch on other things during delivery.

4. Always take your cards inside the post office.

For additional reassurance (and also to avoid risking your invitations needing to battle the elements), never lose them off in an street-side mailbox. If you hand them to someone in the post office right, they are not as likely to get damaged in transit, and you can ensure you’ve done everything properly, from the stamp to the composing of the speeches. This is a particularly important step if you’re using vintage stamps — they could be tricky!

5. Ask the post office to hand cancel your stamps.

Instead of allowing the post office run the invitations through a machine-operated sorting system (which marks the envelope with thick lines in the upper right corner and may harm the envelope at the process) ,ask them to “hand cancel” your invitations. It follows they will use a special ink stamp to mark your invitation, and they will sort it by hand, reducing the danger of the harm. Whenever some post offices refuse to try it, most are flexible if you pop during a slow moment.
