Listed below are 3 wedding invitation hints every couple should follow to be sure they deliver the perfect invitations:

1. Confirm Your Wedding Day: Before you order your invitations or print them out, make sure you have your wedding venue and date confirmed, to avoid shifting all of the invitations.

2. RSVP: Make sure your guests can contact you by telephone, email, or post. Knowing your guests numbers will allow you to plan your wedding clearly.

3. Print Thank You Cards: Not sending thank you cards to your guests for attending is a sweet gesture, but ordering them along with your wedding invitations will help save you money and time.

After spending a few months working on your own mind, you likely feel like you know everything there is to know about these paper goods. However, before you go to the post office to ship out your invitations, there are a few significant thing you want to consider that may have not crossed your mind. So, without further ado, here are five things to do to make the most of your mailing.

1. Tissue paper inserts aren’t only for good looks.

While placing tissue paper between the layers of your stationery package may increase your costs, it also can help stop the ink from smudging. If you opted to use a darker colored ink onto your invitations or you went with thermography, your cards may rub together because they make their way through the email. When it is not too late, add a little tissue paper to ensure your pretty paper arrives in pristine shape.

2. Square invitations need more postage.

As a result of strange form, square envelopes require more postage to mail. Even though this isn’t a huge monetary difference (about 20 cents per card, depending on the size) you can easily cut a few additional dollars by deciding on a regular ol’ rectangular envelope. If you’re trying to find other ways to save on your invitations, elect for an RSVP postcard as opposed to a traditional mail-in response card, even as the cost of a postcard stamp is under a normal stamp.

3. Never lick on the adhesive to shut your envelopes.

To prevent having one of your prized invites open en route, reinforce the closure method on your envelopes by using glue or any other super strong adhesive. Licking isn’t only hard in your own mouth (the flavor! Paper cuts!) , it also does not ensure that the package will arrive in 1 piece. For a pretty touch, include a sticker or piece of washi tape, but don’t rely on these things as the main closure method. They could fall off or catch on other items during delivery.

4. Always take your cards within the post office.

For extra reassurance (and to avoid risking your invitations needing to combat the components), never lose them off at a street-side mailbox. If you flip them to a person at the post office directly, they are not as likely to get damaged in transit, and you’ll be able to ensure you’ve done everything properly, from the stamp to the composing of the addresses. This is an especially important step if you’re using vintage stamps — they can be tricky!

5. Ask the post office to hand cancel your own stamps.

Rather than allowing the post office conduct the invitations through a machine-operated sorting system (which marks the envelope with thick lines at the top right corner and may damage the envelope at the process) ,ask them to “hand cancel” your invitations. It follows that they will use a special ink stamp to mark your invitation, and they will type it by hand, lowering the danger of this harm. Whenever some post offices refuse to try it, most are flexible if you pop in during a slow moment.
