1. Verify Your Wedding Day: Before you order your invitations or print them out, make sure you have your wedding site and date confirmed, to avoid changing all the invitations.

2. RSVP: Ensure that your guests may contact you by phone, email, or post. Knowing your guests amounts can allow you to plan your wedding clearly.

3. Print Thank You Cards: Not sending thank you cards for your guests for attending is a sweet gesture, but ordering them along with your wedding invitations will save you money and time.

After spending a few months working on your own mind, you probably feel like you know what there is to learn about those paper goods. But before you head to the post office to ship out your invitations, there are a couple of significant thing you need to take into account that may have not crossed your mind. So, without further ado, here are a few things to do to make the most of your mailing.

1. Tissue paper inserts aren’t only for great looks.

Whilst putting tissue paper between the layers of your stationery package may increase your prices, it also can help prevent the ink from smudging. If you opted to use a darker colored ink on your invitations or you went with thermography, your cards could rub together because they make their way through the email. When it’s not too late, add a little tissue paper to make sure your pretty paper arrives in pristine shape.

2. Square invitations require more postage.

Due to the strange form, square envelopes need more postage to mail. While this isn’t a massive monetary difference (about 20 cents per cent, depending on the size) you can easily cut a couple of additional dollars by opting for a normal ol’ rectangular envelope. If you’re trying to find other ways to save on your invitations, elect for an RSVP postcard rather than a traditional mail-in response card, even since the cost of a postcard is under a normal postage.

3. Never lick on the adhesive to close your envelopes.

To avoid having one of your precious invitations open en route, fortify the final method on your envelopes by using glue or any other super strong adhesive. Licking isn’t only hard on your own mouth (the flavor! Paper cuts!) , it also doesn’t guarantee that the package will arrive in 1 piece. To get a fairly touch, include a sticker or piece of washi tape, but don’t rely on those things as the most important closure method. They could fall off or grab on other items during delivery.

4. Always take your cards within the post office.

For extra reassurance (and to avoid risking your invitations having to combat the elements), never drop them off at an street-side mailbox. Should you hand them to someone in the post office directly, they are less likely to get damaged in transit, and you can ensure you’ve done everything properly, from the postage to the composing of the speeches. This is an especially important step if you’re using vintage stamps — they can be tricky!

5. Ask the post office to hand cancel your stamps.

Rather than allowing the post office run the invites via a machine-operated sorting system (which marks the envelope with thick lines in the upper right corner and might harm the envelope at the process) ,ask them to “hand cancel” your invitations. It follows that they’ll use a special ink stamp to indicate your invitation, and they’ll type it by hand, lowering the risk of the harm. Whenever some post offices refuse to do this, most are flexible if you pop in during a slow time.
