After spending a couple of months working on your own mind, you likely feel as if you know what there is to know about these paper products. But before you head into the post office to send out your invitations, there are a couple of major thing that you want to consider that may have not crossed your mind. So, without further ado, here are a few things to do to make the most of your mailing.

1. Tissue paper inserts aren’t only for good looks.

Whilst putting tissue paper between the layers of the stationery suite can increase your prices, in addition, it can help stop the ink from smudging. If you opted to use a darker colored ink onto your invitations or you went with thermography, your cards could rub together as they make their way through the mail. If it is not too late, add a bit of tissue paper to make sure your reasonably paper arrives in pristine form.

2. Square invitations need more postage.

As a result of strange shape, square envelopes require more postage to mail. Even though this isn’t a huge monetary difference (roughly 20 cents per cent, depending on the dimensions) you can certainly cut a couple of extra dollars by deciding on a regular ol’ rectangular envelope. If you’re trying to find different ways to save on your invitations, elect for an RSVP postcard as opposed to a conventional mail-in response card, even since the price of a postcard stamp is under a standard stamp.

3. Never lick on the adhesive to shut your envelopes.

To prevent having one of your precious invitations open en route, fortify the final method in your envelopes by using glue or any other super strong adhesive. Licking is not only hard on your own mouth (the taste! Paper cuts!) , it also doesn’t ensure the package will arrive in one piece. To get a pretty touch, add a sticker or part of washi tape, however, don’t rely on those things as the most important closure approach. They can fall off or catch on other items during delivery.

4. Always take your cards inside the post office.

For additional reassurance (and to avoid risking your invitations needing to battle the components), never lose them off in a street-side mailbox. If you flip them to a person at the post office directly, they are less likely to get damaged in transit, and you’ll be able to ensure you’ve done everything correctly, from the postage to the composing of the speeches. This is an especially important step if you’re using vintage stamps — they could be tricky!

5. Ask the post office to hand cancel your stamps.

Instead of allowing the post office run the invites via a machine-operated sorting system (which marks the envelope with thick lines at the top right corner and might damage the envelope in the process) ,ask them to “hand cancel” your invitations. It follows that they’ll use a unique ink stamp to indicate your invitation, and they’ll type it by hand, lowering the danger of this harm. While some post offices refuse to do this, most are elastic if you pop during a slow moment.
