1. Verify Your Wedding Date: Before you order your invitations or print them out, ensure you have your wedding venue and date confirmed, to avoid shifting all of the invitations.

2. RSVP: Make sure your guests may contact you by telephone, email, or article. Knowing your guests amounts will allow you to organize your wedding more clearly.

3. Print Thank You Cards: Not only sending thank you cards to your guests for attending is a sweet gesture, but ordering them along with your wedding invitations can save you money and time.

After spending a few months working on your stationery, you probably feel like you know everything there is to know about those paper goods. But before you go to the post office to ship out your invitations, there are a few major thing you need to consider that may have not crossed your mind. Thus, without further ado, here are a few steps to take to make the most of your mailing.

1. Tissue paper inserts are not only for good looks.

Whilst placing tissue paper between the layers of your stationery package may boost your costs, it also can help stop the ink from smudging. If you opted to use a darker colored ink on your own invitations or you went with thermography, your cards may rub together because they make their way through the mail. When it’s not too late, then add a little tissue paper to make sure your reasonably paper arrives in pristine shape.

2. Square invitations require more postage.

Due to the abnormal form, square envelopes need more postage to mail. Even though this isn’t a massive monetary difference (roughly 20 cents per cent, depending on the size) you can certainly cut a couple of additional bucks by deciding on a regular ol’ rectangular envelope. If you’re trying to find different ways to save your invitations, opt for an RSVP postcard as opposed to a traditional mail-in response card, as the price of a postcard is under a normal stamp.

3. Never lick the adhesive to close your envelopes.

To avoid having one of your precious invitations open en route, fortify the final method on your envelopes using glue or any other super strong adhesive. Licking isn’t just hard on your own mouth (the flavor! Paper cuts!) , it also does not guarantee the package will arrive in 1 piece. For a pretty touch, include a sticker or part of washi tape, but don’t rely on these things as the most important closure approach. They can fall off or catch on other items during delivery.

4. Always take your cards within the post office.

For additional peace of mind (and to avoid risking your invitations having to combat the elements), never lose them off in an street-side mailbox. If you flip them to someone in the post office right, they are less likely to get damaged in transit, and you can make certain you’ve done everything correctly, from the postage to the writing of the speeches. This is an especially important step if you are using classic stamps — they could be tricky!

5. Ask the post office to hand cancel your own stamps.

Rather than allowing the post office conduct the invites through a machine-operated sorting system (which marks the envelope with thick lines in the upper right corner and might damage the envelope in the process) ,ask them to “hand cancel” your invitations. This means they will use a special ink stamp to indicate your invitation, and they’ll sort it by hand, lowering the risk of the damage. While some post offices refuse to try it, most are elastic if you pop during a slow moment.
